Midwinter, from Song of Hope
for SSATBB Chorus with piano accompaniment
Midwinter is a setting of Margaret Bruner's poem of the same name. Beginning with the women's voices, the texture grows throughout against the persistently haunting accompaniment. While it describes the lonely empty feeling that the winter season can leave us with, it ends with a hint of hope that "spring will come, of this there is no doubt."
