Cooler Near the Lake
Cooler Near the Lake (grade 4) begins in a very quiet triple meter, moving into a harder swinging four for the bridge. It features trumpet with harmon mute, flute, and bass clarinet (opt. tenor sax) on the head and in the solo section as well. Solos are followed by a transition into a big shout on the bridge before returning to the head for an understated close. Anyone familiar with Chicago will understand the title, a reference not only to the weather but to the general feel of this great town.
